Copper covers the same time and place as Gangs of New York and the novel Paradise Alley, 1863 New York City, in the midst of the Civil War and just after the Draft Riots. The series first season is now available on NetFlix. The lead character is a police detective, Corky Corcoran, an Irish immigrant and Union army veteran. He is surrounded by richly developed characters who give a wonderful cross section of the habitues of New York, everything from the desperately poor Irish immigrants to the upper class plutocrats. Costumes and sets are amazingly accurate as is the patois of the lower classes. There is lots of violence and great drama. This is a wonderful series. There are ten episodes currently available.
"Race has now replaced rule of law officially. In one speech our president has reversed 60 years of healing the racial divide and destroyed the dream of Dr. King. The result will be an exact reversal of the conditions existing before The Civil Rights Act. And the hardest hit will be the children in whose name the left always claims to act. Well done Obama". - Pendark
