Adblockplus

https://adblockplus.org/en/firefox

Adblockplus: This is a app geared towards cutting down on the number of ads that pop up when surfing the internet. The program is specific to the browser you may be using on your pc. It is also mobile specific Android or Apple based. The app will not eliminate all the ads just the ones that tend to play videos, basically the ads that slow down page loads and or eat data if you are on a limited data plan.

I must note that to use this on a mobile phone it must be rooted.

If you decide to use this app. When you go to download it, use the download link at the top of the page. The second link in the middle of the page comes with a list of add on apps, that you have to opt out of like toolbars and new home page setting. The first link just installs the app. Well I should say it downloads an installer file, the new fad in apps. No one gives you a full app anymore just an installer exe which requires an internet connection to actually finish the installation. A real pain if you ever have to wipe your hard drive and start over.

I've been using it on my PC with Firefox for over a year now and it does work on most popups but not all.
My brain is full. Can I go home now

I think that is by design Thumb. To be honest I was very skeptical that it would work as well as it does. I do not surf the net nowhere near as much as I use to. But the pop up video ads seem to be everywhere I go. The internet is all about money now. Having said that it is time for me to donate to open office and I guess to Adblock also.

I ran into a problem with Adblock this week. Actually, it has been happeing for a couple of weeks. I finally got it figured out this week, though. Everytime I tried to open a YouTube video the screen would darken as though a dark screen had been drawn over it. It would then act as if it were loading the video, but never play. AdBlock was causing the problem.  I had to remove it. This was on my Mac with Safari which may be peculiar to Safari. However, AdBlock has been on the machine through three generations of Macs I have owned. This problem was new and may have been associated with a recent update. I have noticed no sudden increase in pop-ups since removing AdBlock.

The result will be an exact reversal of the conditions existing before The Civil Rights Act. And the hardest hit will be the children in whose name the left always claims to act. Well done Obama". - Pendark
