Hacksaw Ridge

Story Line from DVD cover

"This is the extraordinary, true story of Desmond Doss who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. Doss was the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. "

We really enjoyed watching this movie.  The only thing wrong was that all the American Soldiers did not have Army Military hair cuts.  This was in WW II. ~---~
I am giving it 4 stars based on 5 star rating because of their hair not being a military cut.

I am not sure how inauthentic the long hair was. I have read a great deal about the Pacific campaign against the Japanese. Marines moving from island to Island, having just finished off the Japanese on Iwo Jima may not have been too concerned with tonsorial discipline when they hit Okinawa. Patton in Europe was a real stickler for that kind of discipline, and Marines, generally are, but the horrors of the Pacific campaign may well have broken down that structure as the war drew to a close.

I can understand the long hair with the Marines and men who had been on the fighting front for a longer time, what I was trying to say even when Desmond Doss was in boot camp they showed him and the other men not having the military hair cuts.   ~---~

That is definitely off. When I was in the service the very first thing they did was cut my hair to the scalp.

Watched this last night and if it wasn't for Kat bringing the hair to our attention, I would have never noticed but then I don't pay too close attention to facts when watching a movie anyway, it's just entertainment to me. Although I must bring it to all of your attention, right in the beginning of the movie it did say this was a true story so the long hair must have been right, right?  ;D
