These are the recommended registry cleaners:

1. RegSeeker w/ Guide

Used to clean your Registry

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/regseeker.html

Open Regseeker
Select "Clean The Registry" located in the left hand pane.
Put a checkmark in the box that says "Scan Drives for old exe entries in registry"
Select "OK"
When the program is finished running, select "Select All"
The background will change colors.
Right click anywhere in the right hand pane that lists all of the files that can be deleted (where it changed colors) In the right-click box select "Delete Selected Items" A box will open asking if you are sure. Select "OK"
All of the deleted files will be backed up in a folder in "C: Program Files" in a folder named "Backup".
You can clean this folder after you are sure that everything is working properly after the registry cleaning.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. EasyCleaner is a self-extracting-EXE; it won't require any special programs. Just start EClea2_0.exe.

Installing new version over previous version (if you don't have a previous version on your system just run EClea2_0.exe and follow the instructions):

1) Go to Control panel and select Add/remove programs. Choose EasyCleaner from the list, uninstall.
2) Manually delete the folder where EasyCleaner was (uninstall doesn't know how to do this!).
3) Just start EClea2_0.exe and follow the instructions!

There's a defrag scheduler in this link http://www.alteredegos.net/viewtopic.php?t=4443 it's the one I use on my MCE daily.  It's about one third the way down called Defrag Scheduler from Kevin Gearhart.
I think I need to re-arrange the Essential software threads, I can't find anything since it was re-organized.

If everyone asks Thumb real nicely, maybe we can have him install "Sub-forums" and I can make things a little easier to find.

This is the wrong link. It send you to PCleaner and tries to sell you product instead of CCleaner the FREE software.

Nope the one link lets you get Advanced WindowsCare v2 Personal 2.5.5 and the other link takes me to CCleaner 2.01.507 Although the CCleaner download is on the right hand side and says download the latest version. Another words these aren't blind downloads.

You are right, you have to look to the right for CCleaner the left link is for the paid cleaner. My apologies in thinking this was a wrong link.

I use ccleaner and I like it. Just be careful what you have it remove. It has the ability to remove lots of stuff. But it sounds like your problem can be better address through msconfig.

I have used Regseeker for several years on a large number of computers. I have found it to be the most complete and safe tool to use. CC cleaner is good, but not as complete.
