Disable Windows Messenger
« on: April 03, 2005, 05:52:02 PM »
This service is enabled by default. This is not the same as the MSN Messenger chat program. The only computers that really need this service are those that are on a or WAN that utilizes Windows Messenger for internal network communications. These type of networks are usually only found in a corporate setting.

To disable the Messenger service, go to Start >> All Programs >>Control Panel. Once in the Control Panel open Administrative Tools and then open Component Services. In Component Services, click on Services (Local), then on the right side, find Messenger and disable it.
