Picture quality in media players.
« on: April 18, 2005, 10:47:49 PM »
I am writing this little bit of information incase someone else runs across the same problem.

I was having problems with picture quality in my Real media player,Windows, and Quick time. Any time I viewed edit footage. Or streamed Cspan programing the picture was so bright I could not view anything. This problem is about two months old. Windows media player did allow for some adjustments but never corrected the problem correctly.

I posted this problem on a couple of forums. But no one knew how to solve the problem. After poking around I found the solution. I had to make adjustments to my overlay settings under the display properties in the control panel.  I have no idea how they got so miss figured but they were. But one thing I can tell you is that its ability to control contrast, hue, saturation and brightness. Is all you will need to sharpen your media players video quality.

Start your media player. Set it to be on top while playing. Then go to your control panel   Click on display.   Click on settings.   Click on advance.  Click on overlay. Then you can start making the adjustments using your media player as a guide for how you like it to display.

You must forgive them. So many people did not slay the bogey man living under their bed as a child. Thus they feel him everywhere, hence the need to always carry a gun. Living in fear of the bogey man is a heavy burden for people to carry. So sad.

Under settings tab click on advance. After that click on the overlay tab. You will have to have a video player open before you can make changes. (quicktime, real player, etc.).  You may be able to correct any problem by hitting default. Or you can customize your settings and give them a name then hit save. Hitting default worked for me. However some program on my computer keeps throwing the default settings out of wack. I have not figured out which one does it. One day I will go to watch something and the picture will be unviewable.

[color=purple:1q4jdy68]I went Right Mouse on Desktop, Properties, Settings, Advanced. Then had to select my GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU. Then I saw overlay menu.

The screen that you see will depend on the graphics card or integrated graphics on Mother Board. Since I am about to update Graphics board, my screens will change at that time.[/color:1q4jdy68]
