Acronis TI 9 Freezes
« on: May 04, 2009, 06:02:05 AM »
I have been using Acrinis TI V9 for a few years.
It works fine except one item.
After making backup image, if I run the Verify mode , most of the time I get a message "operation completed succesfully."
When I click OK on this message, the sysytem freezes and I have to reboot by power switch.
I have just been not using the verify operation.
I have not searched this on Acronis Site but might do it when I have time.
Any help on this?

Thanks

I have not verified any of my backups in years.  What I do though is go to the external HD and open the image file and see if I can open some of the data.  If I remember correctly there was a problem w/ the verify option in Acronis but I can not remember the build #.

I'm looking to purchase or find an image creation software compatible with Window 8.1.
Mike if you should read this: I have three questions,( 1) what is the software you prefer? ( 2) how do you open an image for checking the data? and last
(3) how do you mount an image? I know in recovery in Windows 8.1 it gives you the option to recover from an image, other than that I'm open to any tips
or suggestions from you or the any other member including the (peddling Mr. "G")

liteon1 ,
If you are using MS 8.1 either use Norton Ghost or Shadow Protect.  I gave up on Acronis years ago.  I prefer Shadow Protect but Ghost also is very good.  I am sending you my email addy so we can do this off board.

Symantec is name after a merge or buy of norton products many years ago. If my memory is right. What I remember was the then newer semantec soft slowed machine noticibly. I think they improved but by that time I had sworn of all but ghost. I again, like you, think it is time for imaging software again.
Post your choice and review if you would.

That is too good a deal to pass up. I have TrueImage on my Windose box, but have little or no faith in its ability to do the job. I think, for $20, it is worth buying Ghost and installing it.  Thanks Mike.

I don't know if anyone has made an attempt to purchase software from these guys. I have gotten a repeated rejections of my Visa card (they do not accept American Express or Mastercard). My bank says that they did not even contact them, that no block was placed on the card. They show no record of an attempted submission. I have written them on the contact form describing the problem. Somehow, I suspect this isn't just happening to me.

That company used to have the software and it used to be a decent co.  But if they are now playing games with your credit cards, then I will remove the post.( REMOVED ON 2-28)  You can find Ghost at your local repair shops as they sold it with a new HD ( at least that is what is done in my area)

Not sure that they are doing anything hinky with the cards. So far, I haven't noticed anything untoward. However, they repeatedly came back with a Transaction Denied window, and my bank says that they never received a request. It could just be a gitch in their system. I wrote their support people and got a brief reply that they would look into the problem. Thus far, nada. I will be watching my card very closely over the next few days. I used my debit card, so it is really easy to spot anything that isn't authorized by me, and I have at least 24 hours after the charge is made to stop it if it is bogus.

Don't no if it is possible, but maybe their credit system will not allow the use of a debit card. Good luck and keep us posted.

In the system, Debit Visa is treated exactly like a regular Visa. That wasn't the problem, and they are yet to respond to my last note to their support area. We shall see.
