lag during scrolling down a page
« on: January 01, 2010, 01:41:03 PM »
whats going on? i get terrible lag trying to scroll down a page. it just started to do this after installing sp3, and CA internet suite on my puter. win xp pro. tried to attach a pic, but can't access any of the servers. 2.4 cpu, 2 gig ram, cheap gigabite mobo.

it will stall while typing, while scrolling, or just about any other thing i try ta do. it was fast, and snappy, but in just a month it has gotten real bad. i'm going to do a virus check, and a defrag.

hopefully someone will have some good ideas. i though about a pc checker i saw on tv, but fear that it will try to get personal info while doing it's thing. paranoid? hell ya.

any safe pc checkers out there?

any help greatly appreciated.

Uninstall CA and then re-boot and then tell me if it is any faster.  If it is then the CA Suite is the problem.  It could also be a cable or your ram is going South

The pic shows an error message for the cameras and scanners.  Are you trying to connect a cell phone to the computer as your problem is hard to understand

actually it's both. i'm sure it's ca choaking me, but what else can i get that works good, and is free. if i could get it i'd get freedom again. that was fantastic, but when adelphia died freedom was no longer avalible. TW only offers CA.

not sure witch sp i had on, but my phone used ta load right up. now i can't upload movies, or downlaod pics to my puter.

sorry for being confusing.

The question is, how much of that crud do you really need. I use Avast Virus software (Free), ClamAVWin (Free), Windows has a built in Firewall, as does my router. If you aren't visiting porn sites and other locations on the web that spew garbage onto your computer, why are you cluttering up your system with industrial strength software? There is a point of diminishing returns that you have exceeded a long way back. Get rid of that crap. Simply your system and enjoy the internet.

Download and run malwarebytes.  It should clean a bunch of crap off your computer.

well it's what my provider gives me, and supports. i used to use norton internet system suite, but it's now very outdated, and before that mcafee. i'll have to try those.
